Hey Pact Keepers!
Today we got another batch of awesome Edge of the Flock comics for you all from Gerry Lee and it looks like Debbie is holding her own against the abrasive debating style of Paula Wong this time around!
I remember a rule of debate club that I came to learn applied to ministry and evangelism as well, don’t let your emotions get the best of you, when your emotions are jumbled its like a boxer who has left themselves wide open for a counter punch.
Until next time Pact Keepers God bless and please LIKE, COMMENT AND/OR SUBSCRIBE if you wanna see more or help us grow up the SEO ladder! 😀
We can all relate to Debby here in this section I think.
As humans we have a need to make sense and logically comb through I deepest thoughts and beliefs, its in fact one of the best things we can do because by questioning our beliefs and digging deeper we show we desire a deeper understanding of God and the truths he hides from the proud and fearful and reveals to the humble of heart.
The second part is it helps us give a gentle answer for our faith so when we meet someone who questions us like Debby was we are not caught off guard and can humble give answer or confidently stand knowing that even if we don’t have the answer now, we will one day if we do not give or or draw back from the challenge!
God bless and until next time Pact Keepers stay safe and ask questions!

Gerry Lee has made a lot of enjoyable comics but this stint in Edge of the Flock is my personal favorites, Paula is such a well constructed, funny and relatable antagonist in this arc and thats always important in writing to make things compelling!

Now a word from the creator GERRY LEE
In this scene, Debby Peterson meets George Ito in a used bookstore. George is a student of the occult, and is into demonology, ancient religions, and necromancy. It’s always struck me as odd that libraries and bookstores tend to group religion books near the occult. The fact that they group living religions with dead ones like mythologies from ages ago says something about the mindset of the organizers, but oh well.
This scene draws in part from a real-life experience I had in my younger days as an occultist. I was on the bus reading a book on classical witchcraft when a pretty nurse got on at the hospital stop. She asked what I was reading, and started a conversation about how she and her boyfriend used to be into the occult, then went on to give me her testimony as a Christian. How that annoyed me at the time!
George’s chapter is about the nature of God. Many people hazily believe in some kind of supernatural dimension to life, but it’s shaped by our upbringing and experiences. George has had a very hard life, and imagines that God is an angry, fickle, and tyrannical being, like his real father. So he rebels and starts seeking answers in the dark side of the supernatural.
He is also a bit of a cynic. While he desperately wants to find meaning and power in the occult, he has a conceited disdain for most occult traditions, knowing full well how much of it is easily proven to be fraudulent, illogical, or just an opportunistic grab for money. That is why he is amusing himself making fun of the books on the bookstore shelves.
Debbie’s story starts here and the Edge of the Flock is the Chronicles of her travels, joys and trials as she tries to build a new life in a small town with nothing but a little faith and a lot of hope!
